Founders Day 

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

EMBRACE THE FESTIVE SPIRIT: Happy Birthday, Jersey Village! Immerse yourself in the magic of our carnival/festival-themed celebration, featuring an array of games, exhilarating rides, engaging activities, entertainment, food, and a dazzling fireworks finale. There was also an Art Competition that received 25 entries! This event aims to transform the collective passion of our residents into a joyous and grand birthday for Jersey Village.

ART CONTEST

As part of our Founders Day festivities, we're excited to announce an art contest open to students in elementary, middle, and high schools. This year's theme is "Why do you love Jersey Village?" We invite young artists from these educational levels to showcase their creativity and passion for our community through their artwork.

Judging for this competition took place on April 10th, with 3 qualified judges deciding 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and Honorable mention for each category; Elementary and Middle/High School respectively. All of the art pieces received were displayed at Founder's Day and a People's Choice was voted upon for each category as well. We had over 120 people engage in the voting.

Descriptions and limitations for each category were as follows:

Elementary School Category:

Eligibility: Open to students enrolled in elementary school.
Allowed Mediums: Oil Pastel, Watercolor, Tempera
Artwork Size: Minimum dimensions: 8 inches x 10 inches, Maximum dimensions: 12 inches x 14 inches
Submission Deadline: April 9th, 2024, by 5 PM.
How to Participate: Register online and submit artwork to the City of Jersey Village.
Prizes: Winners will be marked by ribbons and receive prizes.

 

Middle School Category:

Eligibility: Open to students enrolled in middle school.
Allowed Mediums: Acrylic, Prismacolor, Watercolor
Artwork Size: Minimum dimensions: 8 inches x 10 inches, Maximum dimensions: 12 inches x 14 inches
Submission Deadline: April 9th, 2024, by 5 PM.
How to Participate: Register online and submit artwork to the City of Jersey Village.
Prizes: Winners will be marked by ribbons and receive prizes.

High School Category:

Eligibility: Open to students enrolled in high school.
