Last week, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar honored Jersey Village as one of 19 local governments statewide that have achieved the highest levels of transparency in the Comptroller's Transparency Stars program. Celebrating its 10th year, this program recognizes cities and counties committed to openly sharing information with their residents.
“Texans deserve transparency in how their tax dollars are being spent, and I am proud to honor these cities, counties, and other local governments that have gone the extra mile in opening their books to the public,” said Comptroller Hegar. “Democracy can't survive and thrive unless citizens have the information they need to make informed decisions at the voting booth and to hold those they elect accountable for their actions.”
Jersey Village earned the prestigious Transparency Trailblazer designation by achieving Transparency Stars in five key areas: Traditional Finances, Economic Development, Public Pensions, Debt Obligations, and Open Government and Compliance.
This recognition underscores the city's leadership in transparency and its ongoing commitment to keeping residents informed and involved. It highlights Jersey Village as a leading example of good governance practices, setting a standard for other communities across Texas.
This is a significant award, acknowledging that Jersey Village is among the best in the state for openness in government operations. By consistently striving for transparency, the city demonstrates its dedication to fostering trust and accountability between local government and its citizens. The Jersey Village City Council prioritizes ensuring residents have clear and open access to city information, reinforcing trust and accountability in local governance.
