January 17, 2025 3pm Update
01/17/2025

City staff are making the necessary preparations for the upcoming winter storm.

The current forecast for Jersey Village predicts approximately 2 inches of snow, with temperatures remaining below freezing. This increases the likelihood of snow melting on roadways, then refreezing, potentially creating hazardous driving conditions. On Monday a pre-treatment will be applied to bridges in the city.

The City has reached out to TXDOT to find more information when bridges on US290 and Beltway 8 may be treated. Historically we have seen severe icing on these bridges with many bad accidents. Extra caution is advised if you must travel during this event.

The National Weather Service (NWS) advises that residents may need to plan to stay where they are from Monday evening through Wednesday due to these dangerous conditions.

Latest CenterPoint communication can be found here.

January 15, 2025 Update
01/15/2025

The National Weather Service has provided an update on the winter weather and arctic air forecast for southeast TX starting Sunday and continuing into Thursday/Friday.

The initial cold front will move across southeast TX earlier on Saturday.

There is a decent chance of snow or freezing rain/sleet across much of the area.

Temperatures will drop significantly, with 4 consecutive nights of sub-freezing temperatures expected into Thursday morning.

Wind chills will be quite cold, potentially requiring Cold Weather Advisories.

There is potential for snow and freezing rain/sleet from late Monday into early Thursday, with details still uncertain.

Alternate possibilities include the system tracking farther south or bringing heavier amounts of snow or ice.

The city will actively monitor this system. We encourage everyone to prepare their homes and the Four P's People, Pets, Pipes, Plants. More information on how to do that can be found here. Now is a great time to make a plan and to prepare for this weather.
