When and Where?
May 10th, 8am-12pm, for a family friendly youth fishing derby! (under 17)
May 17th, 8am-12pm, for a family friendly adult fishing derby! (17+, freshwater fishing license required)
Both derbies will take place at the Jersey Meadow Retention Pond, HERE
The sessions will start with some Angler Education- how to handle a fish, casting, knots, etc. For adults the teaching session will be optional- we want to make sure you know how to respect the parks and handle fish in a way that is safe for them.
We will provide food and drinks- you eat when you want! Food will be hot dogs and other snacks.
The Fishing Derby is held at the Jersey Meadow Nature Trail retention pond!! The introductory lessons and food will take place under a shaded pavillion, with plenty of room for families.
Who?
These programs are open to the public. Anyone can sign up to participate. We can supply fishing equipment to 50 participants at each event- but you are welcome to bring your own gear and bait.
With help from our event partner, Fishing's Future, we will have a great time!!
Families and friends are welcome to come and cheer on their children and parents and friends!! We recommend bringing your own source of shade, water, sunscreen, and food for people that aren't participating.
Winners will be judged on number of fish caught and length of fish. Participants will be grouped by age; depending on signups.
