City Council Meeting Moved to January 13: Here’s What’s on the Agenda
01/09/2025

The Jersey Village City Council will meet on January 13, a week earlier than usual, due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Here are some of the key topics scheduled for discussion and consideration during this meeting:

Charter Amendment Election

The Council will deliberate on the possibility of calling a charter amendment election. This topic has been a focus of discussion over the past few months, as the Council considers potential updates to the city’s governing document.

Safe Streets For All Action Plan

The Council will review a resolution to negotiate a contract with Halff and Associates for the development of a Safe Streets For All Action Plan. This plan, funded through a U.S. Department of Transportation grant, will evaluate existing infrastructure and safety data to propose actionable strategies to improve transportation safety for all users—drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike. Once complete, the plan will help the city prioritize investments and initiatives to create safer streets throughout Jersey Village.

Substandard Structure Update

Council will receive the final report on the substandard structure at 15830 Northwest Freeway, located near the corner of the 290 feeder road and Senate Avenue. The building owners have made significant progress in addressing structural and aesthetic issues, bringing the property into compliance with building codes.
