Jersey Village Wins Prestigious Parks and Natural Area Award for Golf Course Berm Project
12/04/2024

The City of Jersey Village is proud to announce that we have been named a recipient of the 2024 Parks and Natural Area Award from the Houston-Galveston Area Council (H-GAC) for our innovative berm project at Jersey Meadow Golf Course. This award highlights exceptional projects that serve as regional models for how parks and natural areas can enhance water quality, preserve habitat, and improve quality of life for residents.

The berm project was designed to retain water that falls onto the course and also remove water from the Wall Street Neighborhood by pumping the storm water to the golf course when the bayou levels rise. Additionally, the berm project contributes to the beauty of the course and offers a better experience for golfers and visitors, reflecting Jersey Village’s commitment to balancing flood mitigation, recreation and environmental stewardship.

Winning this award is an honor and testament to Jersey Village's dedication to improving public spaces in ways that benefit the entire community. The H-GAC recognition places our project among the best in the region, showcasing how thoughtful planning and execution can make a significant impact.

The award ceremony will take place on February 21, 2024, where city representatives will join other honorees to celebrate this achievement. We are excited to share this recognition with our residents, who inspire us to keep striving for excellence in all our projects.
