Jersey Village Participates in Harris County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Action Plan Update
08/07/2024

The City of Jersey Village is actively participating as a stakeholder in the update of the Harris County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Action Plan. The previous plan was developed about four years ago, and it is now time to reassess and improve our strategies for mitigating various hazards that could impact our community.

Being part of this comprehensive update process is important for Jersey Village. The Multi-Hazard Mitigation Action Plan is designed to identify risks, vulnerabilities, and actions that can reduce the impact of natural and man-made hazards. This proactive approach ensures that our city infrastructure and facilities are better prepared to withstand various threats, including hurricanes, floods, and other potential disasters.

Participation in this plan update positions Jersey Village to apply for grant funding that can help cover the costs associated with enhancing our city's resilience. These grants are essential for implementing measures that protect our community, reduce potential damage, and expedite recovery in the event of a hazard.

In addition, meeting federal requirements is a key part of this process. The Harris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management, along with participating entities, is working diligently to update the Harris County Multi-Jurisdiction Hazard Mitigation Plan before the current plan expires in July 2025. This ensures continued eligibility for federal funding and support.

We also encourage residents to participate by sharing their comments and feedback. Your input is invaluable in shaping a mitigation strategy that reflects the needs and concerns of our community. Keep an eye on this page to learn how you can contribute your thoughts and ideas to this important planning process.

We are committed to working closely with Harris County and other stakeholders throughout this process. Our collective efforts will result in a robust and effective mitigation strategy that safeguards our residents and preserves the integrity of our city's infrastructure.
